Floral Art  

No floral foam, artificial foliage or flowers.

90. Shades of Autumn. An arrangement in autumnal colours. 30 cm wide, 30 cm deep. Unlimited height.

91. A Summer Meadow. Meadow style arrangement. Max. 45cm, wide, 30cm deep. Unlimited height.

92. Nature's Bounty. An arrangement incorporating flowers and fruit. Exhibit max 45cm wide and deep. Unlimited height.

93. A miniature arrangement of flowers and foliage. Exhibit max 10cm overall.

95. Wedding Bells. A bridesmaid's posy. Max 25 cm wide or deep. Displayed in water

Cookery

100. A pot of lemon curd.

101. A pot of chutney, more than 3 months old.

102. A pot of citrus marmalade.

103. A pot of jelly.

104. A pot of homemade jam.

106. 4 jam tarts. Max 11 cm each.

107. A cake containing vegetable(s), to your own recipe. Please state vegetable(s) used.

108. A fruit upside down cake in 20cm/8" tin.

109. 4 fruit scones.

110. Coconut Lime tray bake to recipe overleaf.

111. 4 x 2 cm squares of vanilla fudge.

112. 4 hen, duck or goose eggs. All the same colour.

113. 4 Eccles cakes.

114. Fruit syrup or cordial - any size bottle (unbranded).

To conform to Health and Safety Regs ALL EDIBLE exhibits must be covered, e.g. suitable film, Perspex cover etc. Preserves must be named and dated and sealed with a suitable film top (NOT Clingfilm) or lid. Jars, bottles and lids to show NO trade names or brands.



  Coconut Lime Traybake Ingedients


        Cake

50g desiccated coconut

2½ limes zested and juiced

120g butter

110g caster sugar

2 eggs (approx 100ml) beaten

145g self raising flour and lined

30ml plain yogurt


        Frosting

½ lime zested and juiced

120g sifted icing sugar


        Decoration

20g desiccated coconut.


        Kit

20cm square cake tin, greased

175°C oven (fan or conventional)


        Instructions

1. Soak 50g coconut with the juice and zest of 2½ limes whilst you mix cake.

2. Cream butter and sugar until light, pale and thick.

3. Add the eggs alternating with the flour.

4. Fold in the soaked coconut and the yogurt.

5. Place in tin and bake for approx 25 minutes or until cooked through.

6. In a dry pan, toast the remaining coconut until light brown.

7. Remove cake from oven and allow to cool a little.

8. For the frosting, mix the lime juice, zest of ½ lime and icing sugar to form a thick spreadable icing. Add a little water if needed. Spread evenly over the cake and sprinkle with the toasted coconut and press into icing.

9. Remove from tin. Cut into 8 equal pieces.

2026 Entry Form



Show Rules

 1. The Show is open to all. Children may enter all classes.

 2. Entry fee per exhibit:- Adult Members: 30p, Adult Non-Members: 50p. Free for Children under 16.

 3. No exhibitor is to show more than one entry in any one class.

4. Children's ages on the day of the Show must be stated on their entry forms and all exhibitors' cards.

 5. Entry forms to be returned by 6:00 pm on the Wednesday before the Show to The Show Secretaries, address as on entry form, delivered, emailed or telephoned and be paid on the Show morning.

 6. All exhibits must be the result of the unaided work of the exhibitor.

 7. Unless otherwise stated, numbers in floral classes refer to the number of stems rather than number of blooms.

 8. All exhibits to be staged between 9:00 am - 10:45 am PROMPT on the day of the Show.

 9. Exhibitors to provide vases etc. for show purposes.

10. Points awarded in all classes, adult and child will be: 4 points for first, 3 points for second, and 2 points for third.

11. All trophies are competed for annually and should be returned by July of the next Year, cleaned please. In the event of a tie for any trophy, the exhibitor gaining the most 1st Prizes in that section will be declared the winner.

12. The Judge's decision shall be final. As this is a Village Show, Judges are asked to award the full complement of prizes in any class. Should they consider an entry not worthy of its natural prize, they are asked to write a note to explain their reasons.

13. Exhibits should be named where possible for the interest of onlookers. The absence of a correct label will not be penalised.

14. The Society cannot accept any responsibility for any show exhibit which is damaged, lost or stolen.

15. Useful guidelines for entries can be found in the RHS Horticultural Show Handbook , WI On with the Show and NAFAS Competitors Manual.

16. No floral foam to be used.
